Maddy & Audla – McHugh Bluffs Engagement Session In Calgary

COUPLES SESSION

There’s something about early spring in Calgary that feels a little in-between. The grass hasn’t turned green yet, the trees are still bare, and everything leans a bit softer, quieter but honestly it’s one of my favourite times to shoot. Maddy & Audla fully leaned into that feeling for their engagement session at McHugh Bluffs. Nothing overly styled, nothing forced just the two of them (and Ruby, obviously) spending time together in a place that felt simple and familiar.

What I loved most about this session was how relaxed it felt. No big production, no pressure to “perform” just moments that unfolded naturally. Sitting on the steps, walking the trails, pausing in between. The kind of interaction that doesn’t need much direction, just a bit of space to exist

Ruby completely stole the show at times (as she should), but also fit so seamlessly into everything. Not as an add-on, but as part of their everyday life, which is always the goal with sessions like this.

McHugh Bluffs is one of those locations that doesn’t try too hard. It’s open, a little rugged, and gives just enough of a backdrop without taking away from what actually matters. Especially this time of year, it strips things back in a way that feels really honest.

And that’s always what I’m drawn to, photos that feel like something real, not overly polished or
overthought.

Maddy & Audla, thank you for trusting me with this.

And Ruby… you’re perfect.

If you’re planning your own engagement session in Calgary or Canmore and want something that feels a bit more relaxed, a bit more intentional, I’d love to help you plan something that actually feels like you.
